Which. To. Choose?Don't get me wrong. Choosing the right font for the right job is vitally important. And that is before you consider colour.
The most basic computer comes with far more choices than is needed for everyday communication. Google even has its own range of free-to-download fonts. Designers, like ourselves, have discs or trade subscriptions giving us access to tens of thousands of fonts.
And fonts do go in fashion waves. Serifs, were, until very recently, less popular than sans-serifed fonts. (Serifs are the little tags on the ends of each letter, sans is the French word for without). The origin of the word Serif is unknown.
Think Times New Roman does this font look more dated to you than the sans-serif Arial? And serifed Georgia seems to be very trendy at the moment, whereas until recently, sans-serif Verdana or Tahoma were popular.
There are serifed and sans-serifed fonts that are easy to read in most formats, so it is just a case of personal choice
