With such a seemingly eclectic range of products, we often get asked how Griffin Designs came about.
Well, first came the very expensive rubber stamp machine, followed by, 18 months down the line, the realisation that turnover of rubber stamps is not very rapid. Those stamps are made to last! Great for our customers, but not so easy for us having to find new customers constantly, with few repeat orders.
It took an accident, giving owner, Karen, eight months of down time to research, analyse and ruminate over the future of Griffin Designs - with a little advice from Doug Richard.
The research revealed that people who bought rubber stamps were likely to buy vinyl lettering (weird but this has certainly been proved true!). So in 2007, a new vinyl cutting machine was purchased, and the rest, is, of course, history.
It hasn't all been plain sailing. Putting the economy aside, the first foray into Google pay-per-click advertising was an (expensive) disaster! It really doesn't take a big imagination to work out how Google categorised the website, with keywords that included rubber, vinyl and (banner) stripping. Knowledge and experience has made this method of marketing our second best way of finding customers, after word of mouth.
Today, the majority of our customers are sole traders or run small businesses of their own, sprinkled with a few larger companies, and one big blue chip, multi national. We also produce rear car stickers for a number of affiliate companies. The work is still seasonal, but a lot more steady in nature but our goal is to ensure that if you order from Griffin Designs, you will get fabulous designs and amazing customer service!
