You Bet It Did!
What am I talking about? Business coaching - or mentoring - is vital, even for businesses celebrating their 8th birthday this year, as we are.
There are so many different coaching companies around, but we decided to join The Entrepreneurs Circle. Yes, it's Americanised, fills your inbox, blows your brains, and provides that all important kick up the backside, but by doing just one thing differently, we have completely changed our numbers for 2013.
Despite very poor weather, a complete nightmare for us when 40% of our business comes from mobile sign writing, the first 5 months of this year show an increase. Just because we came up with a simple but very effective marketing seed - planted at a local Entrepreneurs Circle meeting, after a discussion with Steve at Wilson Design Associates. The mini van was born, and we are the Success Story of the month in the June issue of The Entrepreneurs Circle. All of the June Success Stories - 22 in all - were motivating tales of business innovation and we were humbled to have been chosen as the featured story.
Our target market for mobile sign writing is the local tradesman - and most of our business grows by word of mouth. We usually ping from one job to another as we tend to attract a small audience in the couple of hours it takes to brighten up a van. The cold, wet winter had dried this business right up and our normal advertising routes of Google were not proving terribly successful either.
Yet these small vans, placed under the wipers of real 'plain clothes' vans in and around our locality are currently running at a 60% success rate (down from the initial 80% - but still amazing none-the-less).
If you are local to Chichester, Worthing or Brighton, and fancy trying an Entrepreneurs Circle meeting, give me a shout and come along as my guest to a local meeting. Or join me in Worthing on 23 July at 11.30 am for a high octane presentation on the 18 ways to make your business more successful. I have a limited number of free tickets so please come as my guest (this event is normally £29.50 plus VAT).
So now we are busy - but busy doing things that make a difference - and it feels good.
